The Frontiersman newspaper printed an article about Stacy Street recently.I was wondering, how they found out about the situation and how the article came about.. how they found out about the Stacy Street situation?

Also, from the article it seems you did not speak to any of the approximately 200 residents at the very end of Stacy street to find out how they are being effected by the poor road conditions, i.e. their vehicles being torn up by the poor condition of the road. Their children unable to go to school as the buses cannot come out to pick up the children… the ever present danger in that Fire Trucks and Ambulances will not be able to come out to respond to any emergencies in that community of families….where does this situation leave them in an emergency situation such as fire or needing emergency medical attention?

Just a note. The 200 or so residents, men, women and children who’s lives are being effected by the neglect of the people who are in charge of road maintenance  for Stacy street.
From the people I spoke with on this road matter, the borough has spent tons of money over the years to PATCH things up on this road. One resident I spoke with stated that for as long as he and his family have lived out in that community, Wilderness Estates, 12 years, they have suffered the same problems each spring and winter… poor road conditions that keep sucking borough money, but never get properly repaired.

Just saying… if the road were actually UPGRADED, and repaired properly one time, the tax payers would not have to keep paying for all the wasted money spent on patching up the road…

I would hope you would look into the matter of how the whole community is effected and how tax payer money is being wasted yearly on patching up the road.
Stacy street is only 3/10ths of a mile long. The tax payers could save a LOT of money if the borough would simply upgrade the road and fix it once and for all.
Don’t you think?
As it stands, all of the 200 or so residents of Wilderness Estates are in a bad way.. knowing Firetrucks , Ambulances cannot get in to attend to emergencies and school children cannot go to school due to buses not able to come into the residential area to pick up and drop off children.
While your article was informative, I do not see how it was an article that would move the powers that be to actually solve the problem that is Poor Road Conditions for the Wilderness Estates Community who relies upon the only way in, only way out road that is W. Stacy Street.
The HELP that you mentioned.. Northern Asphalt… they came in and poorly patched the problem.. and this is Thursday.. already the temporary patch they applied is failing, huge holes in the road.. only 1 lane is usable and it is full of holes.. they have placed a sign up stating no trucks allowed, (this included school buses, fire trucks, ambulances).
The residents of the Wilderness Estates Community, 5161 Stacy Street need a permanent solution to the poor road condition. Patching the road month after month, year after year is simply a waste of tax dollars.
I would hope you would investigate what I bring to you and possibly do an article focusing on trying to move the borough to fix the road.. not pour tax payer money into patching it time and again.
The community needs their children to be educated. The community needs to know if they call 911 for a fire or emergency that there will in fact be a response…
As it stands now, no children can go to school and the only response that will come from calling 911 is that the caller will be told, “SORRY, WE CANNOT GET OUR EMERGENCY VEHICLES DOWN YOUR ROAD”.
Thank you.

Fire Ends in Damaged Emergency Vehicles Wasilla

Stacy Street Wasilla Alaska Fire Ends in Damaged Emergency Vehicles

Residents of 5161 Stacy Street, Wasilla have just been notified by he school bus company. They will no longer travel down Stacy Street to pick up or drop off the school children until the borough fixes STACY STREET.

907 357 6361  PHONED RESIDENTS, PARENTS OF SCHOOL CHILDREN TO INFORM THEM OF THIS.

Fire at Wilderness Estates

Fire at Wilderness Estates

Approximately 8:30 Pm, May 12, 2013 Firetrucks and Ambulances were called out to 5161 West Stacy Street, Wasilla to the Wilderness Estates Mobile Home park to put out a Blazing Mobile Home. No humans were injured in the blaze, but there were injuries…

People reported that En route to the blaze, road conditions were so bad on the 3/10ths of a mile West Stacy Street that one of the $50, 000.00 Firetrucks was severely damaged. West Stacy Street is the only way in or out of the Wilderness Estates Mobile Home Park in Wasilla which is home to approximately 200 residents.

“We have asked the Borough countless times for years, pleading, begging for them to repair our road..and we cannot get any help out here” many of the residents claimed.

One resident I spoke with stated,”This is the same every spring. Stacy street turns to nothing but deep Mud Holes, lakes, rivers and ruts.. the residents spend time on the phone complaining and then the Borough sends someone out to patch it up.. year after year, for over 12 years now that I know of… and nothing changes.. they never do actual Upgrade the road, Never actually put in a permanent fix..it would seem there is more money to be made by paying workers to stay on the phones taking complaints, and sending out workers to patch up the road… Why on earth would they fix this road..then they would not have a job each year!”

I spoke with the Fire Chief for the Central Matsu and West Lakes Fire Departments on the scene of the fire and they stated that they personally talked to “The Man In Charge of the RSA 27, The Borough for Maintaining this Road, he said there is nothing he can do to fix this road for the emergency vehicles or the residents”.

Well, I hope the Fire department and emergency vehicles have a LOT OF MONEY STORED UP FOR REPAIRS if they are called out to 5161 Stacy Street very often. With over 80 homes in the community at the end of Stacy Street, I am sure they will be needed again. Will they come knowing the horrid conditions of the only road into and out of Wilderness Estates? Time will only tell.

Think of the damage being done to all the Residents’ Vehicles..

Have you ever seen how huge the tires are, how high those huge Firetrucks are.. and if They broke their trucks getting in all the mud holes, just think what is being done to all the cars and trucks of the Residents! Continue reading »

It’s not a religion, it’s a relationship

It's not a religion, it's a relationship.

It’s not a religion, it’s a relationship.

It’s not a religion, it’s a relationship.

I see that phrase used so many times around everywhere. I can’t say I’m totally comfortable with the phrase. The phrase is so short, and cannot sufficiently describe the Christian experience in my opinion. How can you throw around so broad a term to describe Christianity? There is always the temptation for me to ask people what do they mean by religion, what do you mean by relationship? Are religion and relationship mutually exclusive? What type of relationship are you talking about? Just a whole barrel of questions, sparked by this one statement.

It’s not a religion…

What people mean when they say Christianity is not a religion I think is not being under the yoke of the law and therefore the absences of following a set of laws. I guess the first impression I get when people say, ‘religion’ is the Catholic Mass, with people following the various ordinances and following traditions to please God. That’s what I think most people are referring to and this is the impression I get when I talk to those hip “Christian” people who…oh I won’t say anymore. Anyway, that is the impression I get, that people think that religion is unyielding and traditional.

But the word religion by definition is derived from the Latin word, “religio” and is related to the word “religare”, which means “bound to”. Thereby, how can you say it’s not a religion, if you purport you are not bound to God. Romans 1 says:

“Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus” (Romans 1v.1a)

The NASB even renders the word, “bondservant”. So, Paul the apostle to the Gentiles, he was a servant and all servants have masters and they serve him with all their hearts. How can we be indifferent to God, clearly it say that we are servant of God and we are bonded to him. The antithesis I guess is that if we are not bonded to God, then who are we bonded to? We are bonded to the Devil and Hell. That is not good to be bonded to him as you probably have discerned. It is total delusion that you tell yourself that you are not bonded to anything and you have a choice in life as to who you serve, we are born into slavery to sin. Continue reading »
